Chemistry Innovation through Cooperation of Science and Engineering
FY2007-2011
![]() |
Chemistry, which is also called a “central science,” covers a wide variety of disciplines, and plays a unique role in the creation of new substances in addition to the observation of natural phenomena. We are conducting a wide range of research from fundamental research to industrial application.

Secure-Life Electronics
FY2007-2011
![]() |
To meet the demand of human society seeking the “quality of life” centered at safety and security, this project merges technologies over different conventional fields of electronics, from materials, devices, to systems and software, and cultivates young researchers and industrial leaders capable of leading innovations.

Global Center of Excellence for Sustainable Urban Regeneration
FY2008-2012
![]() |
The characteristics of this GCOE program are based on the extensive knowledge and technology of the existing four disciplines of civil engineering, architecture, urban planning and environmental engineering. By recognizing, integrating and refining these conventional technologies with sufficient consideration of cultural/social science expertise, a new integrated academic approach to sustainable urban regeneration can be realized. This GCOE program thus aims to educate a substantial number of highly advanced professionals in the distinct field of sustainable urban regeneration.

Global Center of Excellence for Mechanical Systems Innovation
FY2008-2012
![]() |
The objectives of the COE are to create innovative mechanical systems which implement novel and commercially important functions by detecting, analyzing, understanding and controlling nano and micro scale phenomena, to establish academic and technological programs to support progress in those areas, and to cultivate leaders who can guide the transition of new knowledge and technology into industry and academia.
