The 85th May Festival (Gogatsusai) was held in Hongo Campus over the weekend 19 to 20 May. The May Festival (Gogatsusai) is the official festival of the University of Tokyo and, as the name suggests, is held every May. University of Tokyo students present and explain research results, and　many cultural activities are on offer. The event is open to the　general public and every year many thousands enjoy the festival on　campus with students.　About 500 stalls and projects were opened for visitors, which were enjoyed by about 120,000 visitors during the weekend’s fine weather. The campus was lined with outdoor stalls and many groups and bands livened up the festival by performing on the stage in front of Yasuda Auditorium.
