<title><![CDATA[Lotus bloom exhibition at West Tokyo field opened to the public (Institute for Sustainable Agro-ecosystem Services)]]></title>

On Wednesday and Thursday, 18 to 19 July 2012, the Faculty of Agriculture Institute for Sustainable Agro-ecosystem Services Lotus Demonstration Garden in the West Tokyo Field was opened to the public. More than 600 visitors braved the heat over the two days. The Lotus Demonstration Garden contains more than 200 varieties of lotus, including those bred by the former University Experimental Station (currently the Institute for Sustainable Agro-ecosystem Services) such as the Ryokuchi Bijin, registered as a new variety in November 2011, and the Ohga Lotus, an ancient variety excavated from what is now the University of Tokyo’s Kemigawa Athletic Ground.
