Applications and admissions

 Domestic students applying to Todai take the common national university entrance examination, following which successful students sit the University of Tokyo’s entrance examination.
  Undergraduate and graduate admissions are accepted for start in April and in October. Undergraduate information is usually available roughly nine months in advance and applications are usually submitted roughly four months in advance. The dates for graduate admissions vary widely. Please check the website of each faculty or graduate school for further information.
  On average, about one in four applicants to undergraduate programs is successful, and one in three to MA programs. Two applicants in three to PhD programs are successful, but this includes many students who enroll in combined MA/PhD programs. Roughly one in two external applicants to PhD programs is successful.

  • PEAK (Programs in English at Komaba)
    Starting in 2012, students will be able to enroll in the PEAK program at Todai's Komaba campus and study for their undergraduate degree entirely in English.
