* Room(s) may become available in some cases, so applications will be accepted even if there is no vacancy. However, please understand that the possibility that you can be assigned to a room in the International Lodge is extremely low.

* This vacancy information is only for researchers, not for international students.

Selection Criterion for Staying at the International Lodge for Foreign Researchers

  1. Applications for Lodge rooms are screened during the month in which submitted. If an applicant applies for a room at the Lodge, and the room is available for his or her desired period to stay, the applicant will be assigned to such room based on our priority standards.
  2. In cases where the number of applicants exceeds the number of rooms available, the following priority standards will be used to determine which applicants will be awarded use.
    • First priority:  
      Project faculty members, project researchers, visiting faculty members whose necessary expenses during their stay are borne by the University of Tokyo
    • Second priority:  
      Researchers from a university which has international exchange agreements with the University of Tokyo
    • Third priority:  
      Researchers invited by the University of Tokyo through the JSPS projects
  3. Applications will not be accepted from applicants who have stayed at the Lodge for more than one year in total within the last three years.
