The Division of Counseling and Support, the University of Tokyo started peer support programs in 2015 to aid students in receiving assistance from their peers. Peer support programs are a new approach for helping students who have difficulty utilizing existing support networks. Certified peer supporters engage in various support activities.

The Peer Support Room will host a symposium themed on peer support programs in university settings. This event will feature Reina Juarez, PhD (Director, Counseling and Psychological Services, UC San Diego) as a guest speaker and cover the topic of "Peer to Peer Support Strategies for Mental Health Outreach and Engagement for Healthier University Campus Communities." Student peer supporters from all over the country will gather in Tokyo to participate in the mutual training and exchange meetings. This event is open to both University members and the general public. Your participation will be welcomed.
