The 15th Sir Martin Wood prize is awarded to Associate Professor Naoya Shibata from the Institute of Engineering Innovation, School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo
On Nov. 13, the 15th Sir Martin Wood prize was awarded to Associate Professor Naoya Shibata from the Institute of Engineering Innovation, School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo. The awarding ceremony was held at the British Embassy Tokyo with more than 100 attendees.
The Sir Martin Wood prize is awarded annually by the Millennium Science Forum to a young researcher from a Japanese University or research institute who has performed outstanding research in the area of condensed matter science. The prize is named after Sir Martin Wood, Founder and Honorary President of Oxford Instruments plc. The winner of the Sir Martin Wood Prize receives prize money and the opportunity to give a series of lectures at various British universities, including Oxford University. These lectures have acquired a good reputation among British universities and contribute to the science and technology exchange between Japan and the UK.
Professor Shibata received this award for his outstanding scientific achievements in the “Development of an advanced scanning transmission electron microscope for material science research.”
Prof. Shibata will give a prize lecture at Koshiba Hall in The University of Tokyo on Dec. 4, 16:30～18:00. If you have any questions, please contact to The Millennium Science Forum.
