The 2014 Social Gathering for UTokyo-ADK Scholarship Recipients and Alumni

October 2, 2014

Date of activity: September 24, 2014

On Wednesday, 24 September the UTokyo-ADK Scholarship Fund held its first social gathering of scholarship recipients, previous recipients, and members of the Asatsu-DK Inc. (ADK). Although this is the first time the Fund has held such a gathering of current recipients and alumni of the funding scheme, around 40 members were present for the presentations by the September 2014 graduates on their life as a student studying abroad and the reception which followed.

At the start of the presentation session, Vice President Haneda thanked ADK for their generous support, while Division Director Kasuga of ADK gave words of encouragement to the recipients and the alumni. This was followed by presentations by LIN Hanzhe (Graduate School of Economics), LOU Yuting and XU Luyi (both Graduate Schoold of Frontier Sciences) who completed their Master’s degree program in September 2014, and a very spirited question and answer session.
Members from ADK and UTokyo were able to discuss freely with the recipients and the alunmi during the reception. Based on the suggestions and recommendations given on this occasion, the administration is now considering the possibility of setting up and alumni association of scholarship recipients.

The UTokyo-ADK Scholarship is a fund specifically for Chinese students from Peking University, Tsinghua University and Fudan University who graduate with outstanding grades and wish to advance to the Master’s degree program at UTokyo. To date, more than 70 students have received support through scholarships, accommodation fees, airfares and so on. (Applications for the program was terminated last year.)

We would like to once again express our heartfelt gratitude to Asatsu-DK Inc. who have provided us with such a fulfilling support.
