Report on the 11th International Symposium of the Institute Network

 The 11th International Symposium of the Institute Network was held under the theme of “Frontiers in Biomedical Sciences” at Fujii Memorial Institute of Medical Sciences, the Institute of Advanced Medical Sciences, Tokushima University from January 26th to 27th, hosted by the Institute of Advanced Medical Sciences, Tokushima University. A total of four PIs and young researchers took part from the Institute of Medical Science, the University of Tokyo (IMSUT). This symposium has been organized annually since 2005 and attended by 10 university-affiliated institutes, with an aim to spread their efforts and key research findings to the public. The mission is to create new academic disciplines and large-scale industry academia government cooperation and to build human capacities through the network of university affiliated research institutes. A research meeting was held on the evening of the first day where representatives, speakers, and young scientists were able to interact with each other. Ms. Boon Min POH, a graduate student of IMSUT, delivered a short talk entitled “A genome-wide transposon mutagenesis screen identifies driver genes in brain cancer” and received the Best Poster Award.
