A men's and women's tennis competition was held as part of the Seven Universities Athletic Meet (7-Univ.) at Omiya Kenpo Ground from June 30 to July 3, 2016.

The UTokyo men's tennis team won the championship, marking the third consecutive year the team has won the 7-Univ. competition.

<Comment from Kosuke Kuwata, captain of UTokyo men's tennis team>
We managed to win again this year, just as we won last year and the year before that. We are really happy to have won this tournament. Our tennis club will begin league competition from the end of August this year. We will do our best and work together so that we can achieve good results in the league.

Also, the UTokyo women's tennis team took second place after Hokkaido University.

<Comment from Sumire Kurosawa, captain of UTokyo women's tennis team>
Our team has been eliminated in the first round for the past three years, but I'm really happy that we placed second at the end of this 7-Univ competition. To maintain this momentum, we want to do our best so that we can get promoted to the league's 4th Division.

As a result of the above competitions, 10 points and 6 points given for the men's and women's tennis competitions have been awarded to UTokyo. The University of Tokyo maintains its first place position, and is far ahead of the rest of the pack.

The next competitions were as follows:
 ●Yacht: July 9 - 10 at Hakkeijima Marina (Kanagawa)
●Judo: July 9 - 10 at Kodokan and Nippon Sports Science University
