There were 344 accidents reported during the 2016 academic year at UTokyo.
Therefore, in order to increase the awareness about safety throughout the University, the Division for Environment, Health and Safety decided to hold a competition for the best slogan for environmental safety and hygiene from members of the University.
A total of 157 applications were received from 81 members of the University, and from among them, five particularly excellent slogans were selected for recognition. The best slogan received the “President’s Award”, the second place slogan received the “Executive Vice President’s (Division for Environment, Health and Safety) Award”, and three others received the “Director General’s (Division for Environment, Health and Safety) Award”.
The commendation ceremony for this slogan competition took place during the “The University of Tokyo 2017 'Safety Day' Lectures” which were held on July 4. The prize winners were conferred their certificates by the President and other dignitaries in the presence of many guests.
