President's Council

 In the light of increasing global competition, the University of Tokyo aspires to firmly establish its position as one of the world’s premier and most influential universities. In 2004, the University of Tokyo was converted to a national university corporation.
 With greater independence as well as increased responsibility in determining its academic and financial destiny, the University of Tokyo is in urgent need of developing comprehensive strategy and taking bold actions, with emphasis on increasing its exposure in the global scene.
 The President’s Council, composed of a limited number of distinguished members from around the world, will provide assistance to the president of the University of Tokyo.
 The council’s mission and primary areas of support will include, but not limited to:

・ Review and advise on the expressed aspirations and strategies,
・ Discuss and provide direction for achieving specific actions,
・ Advise on development of the university endowment and
・ Help develop global networks.
