In order to perform the comprehensive evaluation of the in-orbit demonstration experiment employing Engineering Test Satellite VIII (ETS-9), we will establish the control technology to optimize the satellite resource allocation and develop the terrestrial system. This will support various services and large capacity communications in the limited frequency resources. Compared to the existing bent pipe-type satellite communication system, ETS-9 of High Throughput Satellite (HTS) can flexibly manage and control the frequency resources, as well as the wireless beams.
By using the 5G system in the terrestrial network, the integration of the flexible aspects of both HTS and 5G will be expected to enable the satellite and terrestrial coordinated connection system to provide the optimum communication with flexibility and efficiency for the various use cases, through maximum utilization of the satellite and terrestrial systems features.
