In accordance with an increase in the number of type 2 diabetes patients, many clinical studies have been conducted around the world to prevent type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM). Those studies have revealed that certain lifestyle habits and genotypes are related to T2DM.

In this project, we have aimed to develop and expand a service to prevent T2DM, considering lifestyle habits and genetic constitution.

"The risk analysis and precaution service for type 2 diabetes (Habituscare TM)" is the program we developed as a part of this project. It analyses the risk of lifestyle habits and genetic constitution, and attempts to offer individualized preventive action.

We have started providing this service to companies and local governments since 2015. In two years from the launch, the number of end customers reached approximately 600. We confirmed a statistically significant improvement of subjects’ levels of HbA1c, blood pressure, LDL-cholesterol and HDL-cholesterol. We are preparing to present these results at an academic meeting.

In 2017, we analyzed accumulated data and studied development of original IT system assisting the service to realize practical and highly effective type 2 diabetes prevention.

From 2014 to 2016, this project was carried out as one of the projects of the University of Tokyo COI site.

We developed this service as collaborative research between Associate Professor Naoto Yahagi, the University of Tsukuba, and Habitus Care Inc.
