On Friday, October 29, 2021, Go Global Gateway organizes an interactive event with Ms. Kei Kawana, a graduate of UTokyo and a founder of Neighbor’s Farm.

Ms. Kawana became interested in agriculture through participating in field work programs in developing countries and majored in international sustainable agriculture development at the Faculty of Agriculture. After graduation, she once worked for an agricultural corporation, and then founded the Neighbor’s Farm in Hino city, Tokyo in 2019.

The title of the event is “When I was 19: From UTokyo to Neighbor’s Farm”. Beginning with her experiences of field work programs in Philippines and Sri Lanka during her study at UTokyo, she will share stories including her internship experience at an agricultural enterprise, her decision to earn her living from agriculture, her working experiences at an agricultural corporation, and the establishment of Neighbor’s Farm. She will also talk about the principle of her farm and the value of agricultural industry. After her talk, Ms. Kawana will answer questions from participants during a Q&A session.

This event will be a great opportunity for you to think about experiences abroad, study at UTokyo and career development, and agriculture as an industry. We look forward to your participation in this event!

★We encourage the participants to submit an activity report on this event on the category 4 “international activities” of the Go Global Gateway (GGG) program. For more details of activity categories within the GGG, please consult here.
