To students registered for Go Global Gateway,
The novel coronavirus has virtually halted our international exchange programs. That does not, however, mean that internationalization should cease. Rather, the situation makes it all the more important for you to have global perspectives--to be able to imagine and understand the world beyond the national boundaries is becoming even more necessary.
Go Global Gateway is offering various short-term interactive programs with institutions outside Japan for UTokyo students. These programs will not only offer online lectures by scholars throughout the world but also will enable you to interact with students of different institutions. The program in Tokyo will focus on "design," a topic generally not covered in most UTokyo classes, so that you may gain a new perspective. All the programs will be offered in English. But there is no need to have high English proficiency. Neither is it necessary to have any specialized disciplinary knowledge. As long as you have the will and motivation, you are welcome to join!
All the programs are free of charge. The faculty members of UTokyo and partner universities hope to offer you a meaningful global experience even under the current pandemic. Moreover, this kind of online exchange opens a path to a new type of international experience in the post-corona era.
