Japan India Exchange Platform Program

Gifu Joint Degree Symposium 2022

“Joint Degree Programs as the platform of co-creation”

Summary & Objectives

With “Joint Degree Programs as the platform of co-creation” as a theme, “Gifu Joint Degree Symposium 2022” opens for two days from Wednesday, November 30 through Thursday, December 1, 2022. This Symposium consists of the following three sessions; “THERS JDP Symposium” hosted by Tokai National Higher Education and Research System (THERS, on November 30), “Academic Session” hosted by Gifu University (on November 30), and “Industry-Government-Academia-Banking Institution Collaboration Session” also hosted by Gifu University (on December 1).

In “THERS JDP Symposium,” two guest speakers from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan deliver speeches, which is followed by a panel discussion. Representatives from universities/institutions working for Joint Degree Programs (JDP) initiatives will exchange their views on how to cultivate highly skilled professionals who can assume a key role in academic and business communities in the future.

In “Academic Session,” participants will share their thoughts on how to build a sustainable society by studying the specific examples of JDP partner countries, namely, Japan, India and Malaysia. The session will give us some important insights into how best we can contribute to the community through the framework of JDP partnership.

In “Industry-Government-Academic-Banking Institution Collaboration Session” held under the themes of “SDGs Case Study” and “Project in India/Carbon Neutrality,” collaboration efforts beyond business and academic boundaries will be discussed in relation to the research themes presented at the “Academic Session.” Participants share the information of ongoing collaboration efforts among public, private sectors and academia, and look for a potential of further expansion and application of such efforts for society in order to reach our goal of building a sustainable community in the future.
