Akimasa Fujiwara

  • Akimasa Fujiwara obtained his doctorate degree in engineering from Hiroshima University (HU), Japan in 1993. He is now a vice president of Hiroshima University and a professor at Graduate School of Advanced Science and Engineering, after acting as a research fellow at the University of Tokyo and Imperial College London. He has been promoting academic exchanges between Hiroshima University and eight Indian institutes as a program coordinator of “International Linkage Degree Program for Developing Innovators Transforming Advanced Technology to Social Goals”, Hiroshima University (Inter-University Exchange Project (Re-Inventing Japan Project), MEXT) from 2017.
    He is a member of TRB, IATBR, WCTRS, and some domestic societies in Japan. His research interests cover a range of traffic and transport-related areas including transportation planning and policy evaluation, activity-based travel demand modeling, sustainable urban and regional development, and evaluation/design of innovative urban and transportation policies. He authored more than 400 reviewed papers in related fields that were published in reputed international and national journals. He has been rewarded 17 paper prizes including the Best Paper Prize of EASTS, 2017.
