STUDY IN JAPAN
Global Network Project in Southwest Asia

About Our Activities

The University of Tokyo has constantly worked towards increasing the number of international students coming to Japan through our office in India which was established in 2012 as one of the "Overseas Offices for Shared Utilization by Japanese Universities" as well as by acting as the "Coordinator for Study in Japan (India)" appointed by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) in 2014. Even though the"Coordinator for Study in Japan (India)" program was superceded by "Study in Japan Global Network Project" in South Asia in April 2018 the University of Tokyo has continued its activities in the region and in 2019, the University of Tokyo was appointed by MEXT to broaden its activities in the region to the other countries as well as creating a new office in the region.
The University of Tokyo Sri Lanka Office was established in January in 2020 to increase the number of excellent Sri Lankan students in Japanese universities by enhancing the stakeholders' networks in both countries. Activity with the same purpose was started in Nepal without the creation of an office.
