The TSCP Student Committee Participates in Eco-Product 2015—One of the Largest Environmental Exhibitions in Japan

January 4, 2016

Date of activity: December 10, 2015 - December 12, 2015

One of the largest environmental exhibitions—Eco-Product 2015—was held from Thursday, December 10 through Saturday, December 12 at Tokyo Big Sight. The exhibition showcased products with high environmental performance and activities promoted by leading companies in the field, which are contributing with environmental solutions.

The University of Tokyo was represented by the TSCP Student Committee (established in July 2015), a member group of the UTokyo Sustainable Campus Project (TSCP Office). The committee students took the initiative to organize the university booth and introduced sustainable campus projects, TSCP’s activities, and their future plans to a wider audience.

The University of Tokyo is committed to paving the way for a sustainable society. To this end, the university established the UTokyo Sustainable Campus Project (TSCP) in April 2008 as a University-wide project, and has undertaken a wide range of activities to create a low-carbon campus as an absolute priority.

Participation in Eco-Products 2015 provided a good opportunity to promote our activities among the general public, as well as related organizations and industries, and to exchange information with them. Our booth attracted many people including children and elderly visitors, who listened to the students’ presentations intently and gave useful opinions. It also gave the students valuable out-of-classroom experience as they managed everything from planning the exhibition to presenting their activities.

The University of Tokyo will continue introducing its own countermeasures for global warming by participating in various events, where we hope to create various ripple effects among relevant organizations and companies.
