Report

Professor Mahesh Panchagnula, Dean of International & Alumni Relations at the Indian Institute of Technology (IITM,) gave a lecture entitled "Indo-Japan Education partnership: IITMadras experience." He explained the roles of IITM in academic exchanges between Japan and India. In IITM, there is a vast facility called Research Park, in which its graduates and companies conduct research in various fields since 2010. There students join innovation and collaboration to solve social problems to contribute to community. They also collaborate with foreign universities through research exchange and joint degrees programs, often funded by Indian government programs (GIAN, VAJRA, SPARC, VIF, etc.). There are many students from Germany and the United States, as well as active exchanges with Japanese universities, which he expected to increase more by implementation of JIEPP. He concluded that he wanted to promote an exchange scheme that would allow students to stay three months in both universities and companies with financial support from industry, like internship programs implemented with Nagaoka University of Technology and Science.
