Prof.Akimasa Fujiwara

  • Hiroshima University, Professor of Graduate School for International Development and Cooperation.
  • Akimasa Fujiwara graduated from Hiroshima University, Japan in 1985 and obtained his doctorate degree of engineering in 1993. He is now the chair of personnel committee and a professor at the Graduate School for International Development and Cooperation of Hiroshima University, having been a research fellow at the University of Tokyo and Imperial College in the UK. He has served as the chair of the International Scientific Committee of Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies, and is an acting member of the Transport Research Board, Association for European Transport, International Association for Travel Behavior Research, World Conference on Transport Research Society, as well as some domestic societies in Japan. He is also a reviewer for journals of Transportation, Transportation Research, Environment and Planning, Transportation Research Record, etc. He is actively involved in some academic and management units, namely EASTS, JCOMM and CPIJ as executive board members, infrastructure planning and management in JSCE, City Planning Council of Hiroshima Prefecture. He is the chair for the Transport Policy Council of MLIT, and is an acting member of SCJ among others.
