Please give a short introduction about yourself including your hometown in Bangladesh and the degree you are seeking (or for alumni, the degree you obtained and your current job).

I am Momtaz Bhuiyan, I live in Dhaka. My hometown is Pakundia Upazila of Kishorganj District. I gotmy Bachelor in Shipbuilding Engg. from Osaka University in 1968 and later MS in Naval Architecture Degree in 1973 from Tokyo University. After coming back I was a teacher of Naval Architecture in BUET from August 1973 to December 1978. Then I established a fishing company named Imam Fishing Ltd in 1983 and I became the Chairman and Managing Director. We continued the company upto 2004. Now I am the Chairman of a Consulting Company named New Vision Solutions Ltd established in 2008 and my son Tareq Rafi Bhuiyan Jun is the Managing Director.

What is your favorite thing about Chiba, Osaka, and Tokyo?

I went to Japan with Monbusho Scholarship in 1963, studied in Chiba University for 2 years, graduated om Osaka University in 1968 in Shipbuilding Engg. I got my MS Degree in Naval Architecture from Tokyo University in 1973.

In what ways has your impression of Chiba, Osaka, and Tokyo or Japan changed since coming here?

As mentioned, I studied in Chiba University and then Osaka University. Both Chiba and Osaka were my favorite cities though in Osaka coloqual language was different.

What attracted you to choose Chiba University, The University of Osaka, and The University of Tokyo as a place to study?

As though I was interested to go to England for Higher Studies but when I got Monbusho Scholarship to study in Japan, I went to Japan. I think it is a good luck for me that I could go to Japan for Higher Studies. Studying in Japan, I could understand the culture and the people of Japan. Now I think Japan is one of the best countries in the world with good culture, morality, ethics, cooperation and overall human respect.

What attracted you to stay and work in Japan afterwards? In what ways, do you like your work?

Many of my friends who went with me for study in Japan, stayed back and are still living in Japan. But I chose to come back with a Japanese wife. I think I have done the right thing. I am happy and successful here.

How did you learn Japanese language before coming to Japan

Before going to Japan, I knew only one Japanese word "Sayonara". Because there was an English movie named "Sayonara".

Please write a message to students or researchers in your home country who may be thinking about studying in Japan.

I would like to say that those who want to go aborad for Higher Studies, they should choose Japan. Because I think Japan is the best country in many ways.
