| The Name of the Department | Applied Life Science Course |
| Department's Overview | The Applied Life Science course is divided into the six majors. The Major in Biological Chemistry and Biotechnology covers various fields, through the study of biological and physical aspects that govern life down to the molecular level. The Major in Applied Biology area treats basic biological analyses of various organisms involved in agriculture and environmental protection, and also the creation of new organisms through biotechnology. The Major in Forest Life Science treats forests ecosystems, with the biological studies maintaining, preserving and growing forests and on studies on how mankind should coexist with forest ecosystems. The Major in Aquatic Life Sciences treats the living phenomena of aquatic organism, from the molecular level of the individual creature, with the aim of contributing to a better future of mankind. The Major in Animal Life Sciences treats the utility of various functions of animals, mainly mammals,by studying mechanisms underlying diverse and complex life phenomena from a variety of perspectives, ranging from molecular biology to ethology. The Major in Biobased Materials Chemistry covers basic and applied studies concerning mass exchange, functional materials and energy conversion process of renewable biobased materials through the biochemical, chemical and chemical engineering techniques. |
| The Name of the Department | Environmental and Resource Science Course |
| Department's Overview | In addition to food production to feed increasing world population,it is required for agronomic science to keep high efficient biological production while conserving natural environment because we are facing environmental problems on various scales of from a watershed to a global, such as global warming, deforestation, soil degradation, eutrophication in hydrosphere, and the decrease of bio-diversity.In this course, consisted of disciplines involving biological resources and their environment, students learn sciences for utilizing and managing biological resources considering harmony with natural environment;this course consists of eight sub courses:Landscape Ecology and Planning,Forest Environmental and Resource Science,Aquatic Production and Environmental Science,Wood Science and Timber Engineering,Biological and Environmental Engineering,Agricultural and Resource Economics,Field Science, and International Sustainable Agriculture Development. |
| The Name of the Department | Veterinary Medical Sciences Course |
| Department's Overview | Since veterinary medicine is a scientific field based on the animal diseases, learning the basic function and morphology of major organs of mammals and birds and their pathphysiology in various diseases are essential in this six-year course. In addition, various curriculums to learn public health including zoonosis, pathogens and food safety, and comparative biology are conducted. |
