Innovation powers growth, and international trade spreads ideas across borders. Yet in today’s tense global climate, countries face a dilemma: sharing knowledge can spark worldwide innovation, but it can also help rivals catch up. My research explores how governments can design trade and knowledge-sharing policies that balance cooperation with competition, using both firm- and country-level data.
