Akamonkai Chariman’s visit to University of Tokyo with his son

The Chairman of The University of Tokyo (UTokyo) Alumni Association of India, Mr. Shrikrishna Kulkarni visited Japan with his son Vishnu (aged 14), for a week in April 2013. The Kulkarnis enjoyed being in Japan during the spring and traveled to Tokyo, Hiroshima, Kobe, Kyoto, Lake Kawaguchi and up to the fifth base camp of Mt. Fuji. For Vishnu, one of the highlights of the trip was riding on the latest Tokaido Shinkansen, N700A from Tokyo to Hiroshima. The other was visiting UTokyo where his father studied and received a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He enjoyed a kaki-fry (fried oyster) teishoku (set meal) in the Chuo Shokudo on Hongo Campus. After a fine lunch, he enjoyed shopping at the Seikyo (University Co-op). Vishnu loved the politeness of the people and was full of admiration about their sense of duty towards their civic responsibilities. He now dreams of studying and working in Japan like his father did.
