Guideline for Application
1. Purpose
The Program provides scholarships to outstanding IIT undergraduate and graduate students who wish to study at the University of Tokyo (hereafter referred to as “UTokyo”) for up to 2 months as an intern student during their period of study, with the aim of educating leading individuals who will lay the foundations of a future network between India and Japan.

  Applications for this program are submitted by the host researcher at UTokyo who wishes to host an IIT student.

2. Applicant (Host Researcher) Eligibility
The applicant (host researcher) must be employed full-time or classified as being employed full-time as a faculty at UTokyo and must wish to host an IIT student.

3. Candidate (IIT Student) Eligibility
Each candidate (IIT student) for the program must:
Be registered as a full-time student in an undergraduate or graduate course.
Be taking a major in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautics, Electrical Engineering, Information Science and Technology or Robotics.
Not be receiving other scholarships from any domestic or foreign organization.

4. Period of scholarship
The Scholarship is awarded for a period of up to 2 months.
(In principle, students should conduct the internship during the May-July period.)

5. Number of scholarship recipients
Up to 2 students will be granted scholarships.

6. Terms of scholarship
Monthly stipend: JPY 150,000 (JPY 5,000 × length of stay)
Support for travel costs: JPY 50,000

7. Application procedure and deadline for the program
Application for this program must be submitted to the International Affairs Department of UTokyo by a host researcher at UTokyo. IIT students wishing to participate in this program are advised to establish contact with a researcher in their field and ask him/her to submit an application.
They should make this contact before Tuesday, 31 January, 2017. If they cannot obtain a supervisor’s acceptance until then, they will not be eligible.

Application process is as follows:
- Contact made between candidate and applicant (host researcher) by Tuesday, 31 January, 2017.
- Applicant (host researcher) submits application to faculty/graduate School’s head office
- Office submits application to the International Affairs Department of UTokyo

8. Notification of selection results
Notification of the selection results will be made in writing through the head of the applying faculty/graduate school in the middle of March.

9. Recipients' obligation
Scholarship recipients shall participate in events planned by the sponsor of this program.

10. Sponsor
This program is sponsored by DMG MORI CO., LTD. Scholarship recipients shall intern at DMG MORI CO., LTD. for about two weeks during their time at UTokyo.
