Please give a short introduction of yourself.
Hi everyone! I am first year B. Tech. (computer science) student from New Delhi! I love playing basketball, learning languages, travelling, reading science fiction, and Japanese food. Since my parents lived in Japan and Germany for long time, I could speak different languages. My most favorite language is Japanese so I took it up as an additional language in high school and read a lot of comic bookd so that I could fulfill my dream to live in Japan.
What is your favorite thing about Hamamatsu City?
My favorite thing about Hamamatsu is that it is very peaceful and quite which helps in overall composure. Here the air is fresh and it is a clean city where you don't get to see any garbage. The fact that this place is blessed with the harmony of nature makes this place a wonderful place to live as well as to study.
In what way has your impression of Hamamatsu City or Japan changed since coming here?
Before coming here I had a pre-conceived notion about Japanese villages, but after I came here I was mesmerized by the beautiful scenery and the quite place here.
What attracted you to choose Shizuoka University as a place to study?
It has always been my dream to study computer science in Japan as well as getting scholarship for that. For me it was very important to study in Japanese language as it would enable me to get a job in Japan. I found that Shizuoka University Asia Bridge program is the best for me. I can study my favorite subject in Japanese with full scholarship. Moreover, unlike other program, the Japanese learning semester is included within the 4 year B. Tech. program so that no time is wasted. The best part is that Shizuoka is like silicon valley of Japan so that I can do internship in the best of the companies.
In what way did you adjust yourself to Japanese culture?
I had been to Japan before and I love Japanese food so the adjustment was very smooth. Japan is built on respect where all the people behave like one family so I was not at all worried about the social aspect. The only thing that worried me that I could feel alone. However, the other students coming to Shizuoka University are so friendly and there are so many clubs in the University that I quickly join English teaching group. More-over there are so many part time opportunities here that I have no time to be free and I am enjoying every moment of my life.
Please give a message to students or researchers in your home country who may be thinking about studying in Japan?
Japan is the most advanced country in technology and the kind of facilities that are available, students and reseracheres should make the most of this opportunity. Try to get internship in the best company possible. Learn Japanese to feel at home and it would help you to get a good job and in making a lot of friends.
