Please give a short introduction of yourself.
My name is Aditi Daeyi. I am a student in Ritsumeikan University. My major is CRPS and I am currently in my second year. I am from New Delhi, India.
What is your favorite thing about Osaka?
One of my favourite things about living in Osaka is the easy availability of a lot of things, especially food from different countries. Also, most of the Japanese food too.
Osaka and the nearby cities, Kyoto and Kobe, have a lot of tourist attractions,
which are fun to visit.
In what way has your impression of Osaka or Japan changed since coming here?
My previous impressions about Osaka, or Japan in general, was mainly through anime and social media. It obviously is not exactly the land of fantasies, ninjas, and robots that it was portrayed to be. But it is pretty great. I have encountered a lot of people who have been helpful and kind with a few who have not. But overall, living here is a nice experience.
What attracted you to choose Ritsumeikan University as a place to study?
I chose Ritsumeikan University mostly because of the course, CRPS, which is very interesting and different from courses offered in India, along with the teaching style. I wanted to study in an international environment, which I achieved here. It also helped that I received the MEXT scholarship.
In what way did you adjust yourself to Japanese culture?
I would say, I pretty much fit in very well with the Japanese culture and have become more soft-spoken and humble here. I have also incorporated a few Japanese habits, like using chopsticks to eat everything and saying ‘Itadakimasu’ before meals
Please give a message to students or researchers in your home country who may be thinking about studying in Japan?
I would say that, although initially it is somewhat hard to adjust to life in Japan and things are very different from home. But it is definitely worth the effort to come here and experience living/working/studying here.
