Please give a short introduction of yourself.
My name is Tanya Ghai. I am currently studying CRPS program in Ritsumeikan University and am a 17 year old first year student from New Delhi currently living in Osaka.
What is your favorite thing about the Community and Regional Policy Studies Major at Ritsumeikan University?
Even though going abroad to study in another country is a challenging experience, my favorite thing about the course is the fact that it pushes our limits and skills to extended limits in all areas, be it literature, academic writing or policy making.
All the courses widen our knowledge as well as our thinking capacities inevitably.

In what way has your impression of Osaka or Japan changed since coming here?
I believed that Japan might always make me feel like a foreigner but I am surprised at how much of a home it has become in 4 months. I am still surprised by how helpful and considerate the Japanese people are without any expectation of any favor in return. I was proved wrong about the usual stereotypical perception of Japanese people who are usually introverts and shy as I have befriended many Japanese people who are as interested in exchanging values and cultures through interaction as I am.
What attracted you to choose Ritsumeikan University as a place to study?
I have always been mesmerized by Japan as a country and its language as well. Since Ritsumeikan University and High school had exchange programs with my high school in the past, I learned about the university. More than the courses and amazing way the classes are carried out, the university is a beautiful place to be, even if it is on weekends working in the library. People here are very welcoming and it’s a great place to be. I am very blessed!
In what way did you adjust yourself to Japanese culture?
Being from a very loud and expressive colorful culture and country like India, I am gradually learning the politeness and calm way of living that the Japanese live by. Also, Japanese food requires you to develop a taste to enjoy the various Japanese foods. I can safely say, I am now used to, and definitely in love with Japanese food.
Please give a message to students or researchers in your home country who may be thinking about studying in Japan?
For all the Indians out there, Japan is a very unique country and definitely will bring out the best version of every skilled person out there. It is a great University and an opportunity you must not miss!
