Please give a short introduction of yourself.

I am Abhay Kumar. I was born and brought up in Faridabad near New Delhi.
I am a passionate engineer and an Indian Railway officer.

What is your favorite thing about Sapporo?

Sapporo has got very pleasant weather. Back in India I was used to very hot summers. But here in Sapporo I feel summer season is a celebration.
Weather remains very comfortable except for a brief winter season.

In what way has your impression of Sapporo or Japan changed since coming here?

My stay in Sapporo has shaped my impression about Japan to a huge extent.
Japan is a great nation and the Japanese people are really kind and disciplined.
Japanese food is really very delicious.

What attracted you to choose Hokkaido University as a place to study?

Hokkaido University is one of the best universities in Japan. One of the things which impressed me most was the greenery of the campus. University is located in Sapporo which is also not expensive to live compared with Tokyo.

In what way did you adjust yourself to Japanese culture?

Adjusting to Japanese culture was not difficult for me. Japanese people are very kind. Everyone around me tried to do the best they can whenever I needed some help. In fact now I find it would be difficult for me to adjust to Indian culture when I go back to India.

Please give a message to students or researchers in your home country who may be thinking about studying in Japan?

Japan is a great destination for higher education. Japanese university education is extremely good. Please don’t be worried about the Japanese language, food and culture. You will love it.
