Please give a short introduction of yourself.
My name is Ashwin Radhakrishnan. I am from Bengaluru, India.
I am a fourth year student, currently enrolled in the undergraduate architecture program at Musashino Art University in Tokyo.

What is your favorite thing about Tokyo?
My favorite thing about Tokyo is the sheer number of people who live in the city. I enjoy people watching and Tokyo never ceases to amaze me. All kinds of people from many different parts of the world have made Tokyo their home and it's always a joy to go to crowded places like Shinjuku and Shibuya to see all sorts of people going about their lives.
In what way has your impression of Tokyo or Japan changed since coming here?
My impression of Tokyo hasn't really changed much after coming here. I knew what I was in store for and Tokyo has been pretty much what I expected it to be.
What attracted you to choose Musashino Art University as a place to study?
During middle school I was a fan of the Japanese comic ' Honey and Clover ' and later I learned that the comic was based on the lives of art students at Musashino Art University. This was what initially attracted me to the university. The university also had a good architecture program and the university buildings were designed by famous Japanese architects. I decided to enroll here because of these reasons.
In what way did you adjust yourself to Japanese culture?
I had a year of Japanese language training during my first year here in Japan and that helped me understand the culture a lot. Also immersing myself in the culture by making Japanese friends, speaking the language and living here has helped me get past that initial culture shock.
Please give a message to students or researchers in your home country who may be thinking about studying in Japan?
I think Japan is a great place to study and do research. I've recently learned that quite a few universities in Japan have started offering some of their programs in English for foreign students. If one has the resources and the interest I think studying in Japan would be a great experience.
