What is your favorite thing about NARA (IKOMA)?

The campus of NAIST is present in the outer region of Ikoma-shi and is surrounded by fields and greenery. I really like taking long walks in the nearby area. It is a conducive region for doing good research and having a peaceful life in general.

In what way has your impression of NARA (IKOMA) or Japan changed since coming here?

To be frank, I did not know much about Nara and nothing at all about Ikoma-shi. My impression has changed significantly since I arrived here. The people here are very polite and helpful. Nara has a rich history and provides a glimpse into the traditions and culture of Japan.

What attracted you to choose NAIST as a place to study?

My research interests are in the area of Robotics and Japan is one of the front-runners in this field. This was my main motivation for studying in Japan. I have chosen NAIST specifically as my supervisor in India worked with the faculty at NAIST and strongly recommended me to work at NAIST.

In what way did you adjust yourself to Japanese culture?

I have changed in two ways since arriving to Japan. Punctuality and being self-reliant is not only respected but a necessity in Japan. I have become more punctual with performing research activities and become more independent in general.

Please give a message to students or researchers in your home country who may be thinking about studying in Japan?

Japan is a great choice for pursuing higher studies. Research is highly valued and well funded here. I have experienced a highly conducive environment for pursing research during my stay. Along with this, I also got the chance to experience a very unique culture much different from India.
