Please give a short introduction of yourself.

My name is Rohan Wadhwa and I am from New Delhi, India. I am currently a junior at Keio University Shonan Fujisawa Campus (SFC) and study issues pertaining to Internet policy and governance.

What is your favorite thing about Fujisawa City?

My favorite thing about Fujisawa City is its location. Fujisawa is a nice break from the hustle-bustle of Tokyo and yet provides a lively atmosphere. Fujisawa is also very close to Enoshima and Kamakura.

In what way has your impression of Fujisawa City or Japanchanged since coming here?

Fujisawa and the rest of Japan have had a great impression on me. I was surprised to see that even smaller or remote areas of Japan have access to all major facilities and services, and are as efficient as Tokyo.

What attracted you to choose Keio University as a place to study?

Along with being one of the most reputed universities in Japan, Keio University’s GIGA program offered a great opportunity for me to study different courses like Politics, Business, and Computer Science at the same time. Moreover Keio SFC is the origin of the Internet in Japan.

In what way did you adjust yourself to Japanese culture?

Having previous knowledge of Japan made it easier for me to adjust to the Japanese culture but there was always more to learn about the diverse Japanese culture. The easiest way to adjust is to immerse yourself in the Japanese surroundings and engage with as many Japanese people as possible.

Please give a message to students or researchers in your home country who may be thinking about studying in Japan?

I would strongly recommend students in India to consider studying in Japan! Studying in Japan would not only give you exposure and opportunities, but will also open your eyes to a completely different environment along with the opportunity to learn from the rich Japanese culture.
