★Please understand that accommodations offered by Todai are limited and the process of securing accommodation is highly competitive because of the large number of applicants. The percentage of international students assigned a single, couple or family type room, and foreign researchers assigned a single or couple type room at Todai is about 20 to 30%. The percentage of foreign researchers assigned to a family type room is the lowest, at about 15%. The number of rooms in accommodations not owned by Todai, such as those of the Tokyo International Exchange Center, indicates the total number of rooms which are allocated to Todai students and researchers at this time and is not indicative of guaranteed accommodations every year.
We accept applications from students or researchers when we are notified from other institutions that there is a vacancy. Also, please note that even if you are assigned accommodations, be aware that the period of stay permitted in the accommodations is limited. Please do not forget to consider other accommodation options for the remaining period of your stay in Japan.

★If you wish to stay in the following accommodations, please contact the international student affairs section or academic staff at your host laboratory or department. All applications must go through the relevant administrative office at your graduate school, faculty, institute or center. Also, please note that only those who are enrolled at Todai or who have been successful in an application to Todai are eligible to apply for the following long-term accommodations.
