Researchers eligible for research expense support which is provided to those who had to suspend research activities due to life events
Eligible persons(both female and male researchers)
The main requirements are as follows.
However, any application may not be accepted for a life event which occurred during the same period of research suspension as that of another event previously recognized for support of this program.
The applicant must be a full-time researcher affiliated to UTokyo*.
The applicant must be a person who has taken maternity or family care leaves, or leaves of absence from work for childcare or family care, and had to suspend research activities for about three months or longer during the designated period, or a person who is expected to suspend research activities for any of the aforementioned reasons.

*Full-time researchers include (project) professors, (project) associate professors, (project) lecturers, (project) assistant professors and project researchers.
*Project faculty members are specific fixed-term faculty and staff members, and do not include specific short-time fixed-term faculty and staff members.
*An applicant who is a specific fixed-term faculty or staff member should apply after confirming in advance that receiving support of this program will not raise a question in terms of financial resources for, and conditions of, employment.

Expenses which are directly required for the applicant’s research activities
E.g. Expenses for office equipment, consumable, travel, academic conference participation, personnel, honorarium, printing and bookbinding, etc.
“Expenses not to be covered”
Expenses which are not directly required for the applicant’s research activities
E.g. Expenses for meetings involving eating and drinking, etc.
