Fixed-Term Full-Time Project Faculty Position Office for Gender Equality, The University of Tokyo

Office for Gender Equality at the University of Tokyo calls for one Project Faculty position. The appointee is expected to coordinate projects related to “Initiative for Implementation of Diverse Research Environment” (MEXT subsidy program); design and conduct various education and training programsfor raising gender-awareness among majority people and empowering young female researchers; and engage in gender-related studies.

1. Position and number of positions

Project Associate Professor (Tokunin Jun-Kyooju), Project Lecturer (Tokunin Kooshi), or Project Assistant Professor (Tokunin Jokyoo) (Fixed-term Project Staff) - One position

2. Term of employment

From April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024 (start date of employment is negotiable) 

3. Renewal of contract

The contract may be renewed on a fiscal year basis. Renewal will be decided based on the budgetary conditions, the progress of the involved project, workload at the end date of employment, work performance, work attitude, and health conditions. However, the number of renewals shall be limited to four times, and the period of employment shall be limited to March 31, 2028

7. Job details

(1) Coordination of various projects planned in “Initiative for Implementation of Diverse Research Environment” (MEXT subsidy program). In particular, the appointee is expected to design and conduct education and training programs to raise gender-awareness among majority people and empower young female researchers.

8. Working hours

Discretionary labor system (regarded as 7 hours and 45 minutes per day (38 hours and 45 minutes per week))

9. Holidays

Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, and year-end/new-year holidays (December 29 to January 3)

10. Leave

Annual paid leave (granted according to Work Rules), special leave (granted according to Work Rules), etc.

11. Salary

Annual salary system is applied. Approximately 400,000 yen to 750,000 yen per month, including performance and results allowance (decided based on certifications, competency, experience, etc.) A commuting allowance applies if requirements are met (up to 55,000 yen per month).
Retirement allowance, bonuses, and salary increases are not applicable. 

12. Insurance

As stipulated by law, the appointee will be enrolled in the MEXT Mutual Aid Association, Employment Insurance, and Work Injuries Insurance.

13. Qualifications

<Required Qualifications>
(1) Those who can contribute to gender education, gender studies, and related areas in the University.
(2) Those who have a doctoral degree (or expect to obtain a degree) or have equivalent research abilities
(3) Those who can carry out research and tasks in cooperation with related parties in creating university-wide training programs.
(4) Those who can carry out tasks in Japanese and communicate in English.

<Preferred Qualification>
(1) Those with experience in designing and/or conducting gender-related training.
