KAKENHI Information Session for Overseas Researchers

October 8, 2015

Date of activity: October 5, 2015

The KAKENHI Information Session for Overseas Researchers ~ First steps towards gaining research grants ~ was held at the Medical Library on Monday, October 5, 2015.

The Division of International Affairs has been working on translating documents and common terms (such as titles and organization names) into English to support researchers and students from overseas. Following the selection of UTokyo’s initiative by MEXT (the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) as one of its Top Global University Projects last October, a KAKENHI information session in Japanese with consecutive English interpretation was held for overseas faculty members and researchers in order to offer further support.

A total of around 60 people made up of overseas faculty members and researchers as well as URAs (University Research Administrator) and Japanese faculty/staff members in charge of providing support for them attended the session to gain general information on KAKENHI, tips for making applications as well as insight into the experiences of Dr. Surhud More, Project Assistant Professor, Kavli IPMU as a past successful applicant.
