Professor Shinichi Nakasuka’s laboratory in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Graduate School of Engineering, University of Tokyo, and the Next Generation Space System Technology Association (NESTRA), have decided to launch Japanese four micro-satellites using the Russian Dnepr launch vehicle from Yasny launch base in Russia at the end of 2012. These four satellites are being developed by the below universities, with the primary objective of demonstrating Earth remote sensing technology. The University of Tokyo’s micro-satellite “Hodoyoshi-1,” a 6.8m ground resolution Earth remote sensing satellite, will also be launched.
Four satellites to be launched and developing universities:
Hodoyoshi-1: The University of Tokyo and NESTRA
ChubuSat-1: Nagoya University and Daido University
TSUBAME: Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo University of Science and JAXA
QSAT-EOS: Kyushu University
