Former UTokyo President Hiroshi Komiyama Named Recipient of the 2017 Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award

Dr. Hiroshi Komiyama, a former president of the University of Tokyo, has been named as a recipient of the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award (Knowledge Award), an international distinction granted by the Government of Dubai of the United Arab Emirates.
Established in 2014, the Knowledge Award is presented to individuals and organizations that have contributed to the creation and dissemination of knowledge.
Dr. Komiyama received the award for his plan for solving social issues to create a better future for humanity, and acting as a driving force behind the effort to realize this vision. In particular, Professor Komiyama’s public awareness activities towards building his proposed “Platinum Society” were highly regarded by the selection committee.
