2013 Autumn-Semester Diploma Presentation / Graduation Ceremony

The 2013 University of Tokyo Autumn-Semester Diploma Presentation / Graduation Ceremony took place on Friday, 27 September at Ito Hall in Hongo Campus.

At 10am, the ceremony opened with the University orchestra's performance of the second movement of Tchaikovsky’s String Quartet No. 1 in D major. The university president, executive vice presidents, vice presidents, deans and directors took the stage in their academic gowns. Starting from 10:10am, President Hamada presented degree certificates to representatives of graduates from each graduate school. After President Hamada’s farewell address to the graduating students, Graduate School of Medicine doctoral student Yayoi Hayakawa gave the valedictory address.

The ceremony was attended by 320 graduates finishing this autumn and some 450 family members. There were 613 autumn graduates, 210 master's students, 317 doctoral students, 41 professional degree program students, and 45 undergraduates. Of all graduates, 312 were international students.
