The 15th Homecoming Day Held
Date of activity: October 15, 2016
On the sunny autumn day of Saturday, October 15, 2016, the 15th Homecoming Day was held on the Hongo and Komaba Campuses.
Both campuses were crowded with many alumni who visited a variety of events such as the Special Forum and the Yasuda Music Festival which were held at the Yasuda Auditorium, the kids garden “Nobi-nobi Hiroba,” the Rakugo (Japanese sit-down comedy of comic story telling) Show and stalls on the Ginkgo Avenue.
Six anniversary gatherings, namely for the 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45-year reunions, were also held. President Gonokami visited and delivered separate speeches at each one of them.
Also, Kaitokuen Garden, which is normally closed to the public, was open for the day and was quite popular among the visitors.
Compared to previous years, the number of younger alumni bringing their small children increased this year, thus infusing lots of fresh energy into all of the events.
UTokyo will celebrate its 140th anniversary next year.
Homecoming Day 2017 will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017.
