September 9, 2016

Date of activity: August 26, 2016 - August 31, 2016

kyudo (Japanese archery) competition was held as part of the Seven Universities Athletic Meet (7-Univ.) at the Ikutoku-do in Hongo from August 26 to 31, 2016.

The UTokyo men's kyudo team placed third, and the women's team emerged victorious with a first place win!!

<Comment from the captain of the UTokyo men's kyudo team>
While a student from the University of Tokyo won the individual championship, the team ended up in third place because we were unable to come through at a critical moment in the match. However, our new, young players performed well in place of the fourth-year students who couldn't participate because of graduate school entrance examinations. Therefore, we can expect a good future for our team.

<Comment from the captain of the UTokyo women's kyudo team>
We held out until the end, and after a close battle with Hokkaido University and Osaka University, we were able to win the championship. Thank you for your support!

As the result, a total of 16 points given for the kyudo competition have been awarded to UTokyo.
Tohoku University, the reigning 7-Univ. champion and which is aiming for a fourth straight victory, has leapt into second place, with Osaka University in third place at present (as of August 26, 2016). However, UTokyo is expected to widen its lead in the coming days.

The next competition, an automobile racing competition, will be held at the Honjyo Circuit and Maruwa Autoland Nasu from September 12-14, 2016.

Let's cheer for UTokyo!
