UTokyo Auto Race Team Wins 7-Univ. with UTokyo Clinching the Overall Championship!

Date of activity: September 12, 2016 - September 14, 2016
An auto race competition was held as part of the Seven Universities Athletic Meet (7-Univ.) at the Honjo Circuit (Honjo, Saitama Prefecture) and Maruwa Autoland Nasu (Nasu-shiobara, Tochigi Prefecture) on September 12 and 14, 2016, respectively.
The UTokyo Auto Race team won this 7-Univ. competition.
<Comment from the captain of UTokyo Auto Race Team>
"This year, 7-Univ. is hosted by UTokyo, so I found it difficult to focus on winning the competition because we had to juggle the management of the athletic meet with the auto competition. However, we were able to win the competition convincingly, seeing victory in many classes. We were able to win by bringing all our forces together."
As a result, 10 points given for the auto race competition have been awarded to UTokyo. Having more than 10-point lead over second place, UTokyo clinched the overall championship before the last competition, gymnastics. This is the 11th overall championship won by UTokyo and the first time in four years.
The closing ceremony will be held on September 24, 2016, at the Graduate School of Economics on the Hongo Campus.
Let's look forward to bringing the pennant and trophy back to UTokyo!
Now, the 55th 7-Univ. hosted by UTokyo has only the gymnastics competition remaining. Let's cheer for UTokyo until the very end!
