“Voice of Indian Students at UTokyo” Video Released

August 17, 2017

Date of activity: August 17, 2017

A 10-minute video, “Voice of Indian Students at UTokyo,” has been released in collaboration with the UTokyo Indian Students Association (UTISA). The video includes scenes from a holi celebration event with students from Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) and UTokyo’s i.school, along with nine student interviews conducted on our campus in February 2017.

The purpose of this video is to enhance understanding and awareness about studying in Japan for students in India. UTokyo has been appointed the Coordinator for Study in Japan (India) on behalf of all of Japan, and has been working actively to connect professors to professors and students to students between India and Japan. Furthermore, the year 2017 has been designated The Year of Japan-India Friendly Exchanges, with an agreement concluded by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

The content of the interviews is divided into three pillars: About, Support, and Japan, with students discussing their experiences regarding each topic. Although the number of Indian students in Japan is still low compared to that of Indian students going to study in the US or Europe, it has been steadily increasing over time. We hope this video will help showcase the attractiveness of studying at UTokyo as well as in Japan.

The video also can be viewed on the UTokyo YouTube channel.
