UTokyo and JSR launch joint research hub, establish Ph.D. fellowship

The University of Tokyo and JSR Corp. announced the launch of a comprehensive collaboration between UTokyo’s Department of Physics and the Japanese chemicals and materials company in a statement dated May 21, 2020, following the start of joint research the previous month.

The partners will create a collaboration hub in the Graduate School of Science on the Hongo Campus to conduct joint research fusing physics and chemistry. They will also establish a grant-type fellowship for doctoral students to cultivate experts who will lead academia and industry globally in the future.

Drawing on their wealth of scientific knowledge and industry experience, the partners expect the collaboration will lead to significant advances in basic research for future science and technology, and social implementation of high-performance products through materials innovation.
