(Hongo) Akamon closed
We would like to inform you that the Akamon (Red Gate) is now closed to all access.
As an alternative measure, the Ito International Research Center Gate (tentative name) will be opened.
Some of the results from the several basic seismic diagnoses carried out on the Akamon based on multiple assumptions showed low performance in seismic resistance, so a decision was made to perform a more detailed seismic diagnosis.
Therefore, the Akamon will be closed until we can confirm that seismic resistance performance is ensured.
Additionally, two buildings adjacent to the Akamon also showed low seismic resistance and fences will be placed around these buildings.
