Open Campus Kashiwa 2018

On October 26 and 27 Kashiwa Open Campus events were held under the banner “Wonder of Exploring Knowledge at Kashiwa” on The University of Tokyo’s Kashiwa Campus. Participating departments, research institutes, and other organizations included the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences (GSFS), the Institute for Cosmic Ray Research (ICRR), The Institute for Solid State Physics (ISSP), the Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute (AORI), the Center for Spatial Information Science (CSIS), the Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (Kavli IPMU), the Environmental Science Center (ESC) Kashiwa Branch, the Information Technology Center (ITC), the Institute of Gerontology (IOG), The University of Tokyo Archives, Kashiwa Library, the Institute of Industrial Science (IIS), Chiba Experiment Station, and the International Education Support Office Kashiwa Branch.

Visitors experienced education and research on the Kashiwa Campus through a variety of special exhibits and special lectures; and joined guided tours through the many research laboratories and large-scale experiment facilities.

This two-day event hosted more than 11,000 visitors of all ages. Open Campus Kashiwa has become an annual event that maintains close ties with the local communities.
