Quantum + Classical:Exploring new technological opportunities of the next-gen computing with Quantum

In Japan, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) has begun evaluating the feasibility of quantum supercomputing in its study on next-generation supercomputing infrastructure. Also, at the IBM Quantum Summit held in the U.S. on November 9, efforts toward quantum-centric supercomputing were announced, and other moves toward the realization of next-generation computing are gaining momentum. In this seminar, we will cover the new direction of next-generation computing with quantum and classical computing, through talks by technology leaders from around the world. (All talks in English)

9:30 – 9:50 Jay Gambetta (IBM), Opening – Quantum computing with IBM Quantum
9:50 – 10:10 Antonio Mezzacapo (IBM), Hybrid quantum-classical computations
10:10 – 10:30 Ismael Faro (IBM), Quantum Serverless
10:30– 10:50 Seiji Yunoki (RIKEN), Encoding a quantum state by a quantum circuit for quantum-classical state transformation
10:50 – 11:10 Miwako Tsuji (RIKEN), Programming Environment toward the cooperative computation of classical and quantum computers
11:10 – 11:20 Break
11:20 – 12:00 Prof. Synge Todo (UTokyo), Algorithms and computational techniques for quantum + classical computing
12:00 – 12:40 Prof. Naoki Yamamoto (Keio University), Quantum application algorithms for near-term quantum devices
12:40 – 12:50 Jay Gambetta (IBM) Closing remarks
