In recent years, new educational and research organizations related to the humanities and social sciences; Humanities Center (July 2017), Asian Research Library (April 2018), Tokyo College (February 2019), East Asian Academy for new Liberal Arts (March 2019), and Center for Contemporary Japanese Studies (July 2020) have been launched one after another at the University of Tokyo. Each of these organizations is engaged in activities while envisioning new possibilities for the humanities and social sciences based on a reflective perspective on the conventional nature of the field.
